On the 2nd of April, 2024, the developers of Assetto Corsa, officially announced that their newest title is in development and was originally said to be released this year, but later it was changed for an early 2025 release. The simulator will have the name, Assetto Corsa EVO. Since then, more information and some rumors have come out about the new title. Let’s see what we know about it so far.

The original Assetto Corsa simulator is one of the most popular sim racing titles still to this day. It was originally released in 2013 and it became instantly popular with its great physics engine and driving model. It remains popular to this day because of the modding support which created a big community around the simulator. Modders have created many cars and tracks that otherwise wouldn’t be available to drive or maybe not even available in any other title. This keeps the community around it still active to this day.

On the first of October, the development team released the following trailer.

So far, the confirmed content includes 22 cars and 3 tracks as described by Overtake.gg. With several production cars confirmed already, it seems like the focus will be similar to the original Assetto Corsa title. The confirmed tracks so far are Brands Hatch, Imola and the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. These are all some classic tracks that were available in the first title as well and since it was confirmed to be an early access launch at first, it is very much expected for this list to grow a lot until the final release.

Additionally, in the trailer video, a public road appears with another civil car driving by in the scene. This has prompted talk about Assetto Corsa EVO having a free roam driving option as well. Those familiar with the scenes believe that this road is close to the Nürburgring circuit. This is yet to be confirmed by the development team but having such an option would be definitely unique in today’s sim racing titles, and surely many players would appreciate it.

As possibly the most popular feature of the original title is having the ability to create and install mods to the platform, players are interested if the support for this will continue. Unfortunately, there has been no official confirmation about this yet, although the developers did say that they are open to supporting mods in the new simulator, but perhaps in a different way.

Assetto Corsa EVO is going to be available in early access version on the 16th of January on Steam. The sim racing community is eagerly waiting for the new title and hoping that it will be a great successor for Assetto Corsa.
