A great feature of the iRacing online racing system is that in addition to the weekly races, they also host the virtual equivalent of the biggest racing events of the year; and it’s available to all drivers. This is what they call the iRacing Special Events. Recently, they released the 2025 calendar for these events and for this article, let’s take a look at what will be hosted throughout the year. If you’re interested to read the full statement from iRacing and see the full calendar with additional information, you can find that in the announcement made by iRacing.
The schedule consists of 30 events, spread out through the year. This means that there will be an opportunity to run some of the most popular events of the year and also, that iRacing is going to have a few events with some of the less popular or older cars. Certainly great for the drivers; everyone can find events that run their preferred cars.
The first special event of the year is already underway on the weekend this article is released, which is the Roar Before the 24. We already have our preview available for this in our content library. And just like last year, the SRA members will have previews and track tips available for some of the biggest events this year, as well.
The consistently most popular events are usually the ones that replicate the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup events. These are the endurance races, namely Daytona 24, Sebring 12, Watkins Glen 6 Hour, Indy 6 Hour, and Petit Le Mans. These events always see a very high number of entries with the always popular GTP, LMP2 and GT3 classes. In addition to these multiclass events, of course once again the Nürburgring 24h is on the calendar as well, which will have 4 classes in the race this time.
The third 24 hour race of the year is none other than the Spa 24h. As usual, this is a GT3-only race, the only 24h that runs only one class of cars in the year. This is supported by another two GT3-only events, the Suzuka 1000km and the Bathurst 12. And now that we mentioned the race down under, we can’t forget that the Supercars fans will have their highlight event represented as well with the Bathurst 1000.
To round out our preview, we can’t go without mentioning the highlight events for oval racing. The first oval event is in early February; that is the Daytona 500. This is supported throughout the year by 3 additional NASCAR Cup races, thosebeing the Coke 600, Brickyard 400, and the Bristol Night Race. And of course, the oval races have quite possibly the most popular event of the whole year, which is none other than the Indy 500. As is tradition now, iRacing will host a fixed and open setup event for the 500.
