A new week of racing is quickly approaching us and week 6 of the iRacing 2024, Season 4 is going to be an amazing week of multiclass and endurance racing. With an iRacing Special event being run on the weekend, the IMSA series is likely to take the spotlight this time. Open wheel racers will also see their schedule dominated by a relevant real life racing event.
As it was highlighted before, the IMSA series will very likely be the most popular official series this week. This week, the racing will be at the famous Road Atlanta circuit which will provide an opportunity for drivers to prepare for the endurance event at the weekend. These races are expected to be on a dry track, but it’s guaranteed that plenty of challenges will be in the races even without rain. This track is always one of the most difficult for managing multi-class traffic and with the great pace difference between classes, it’s not expected to be different this time either.
The main event of the week will be the iRacing Petit Le Mans, which will be run on the weekend, with 4 timeslots available to sign up for. The 10-hour race will feature the same 3 classes as in the short races for the IMSA series. The weather will be completely dynamic, which can easily involve some rain as well. This race is one of the nicest challenges of any endurance race, and completing it is always very rewarding. To check out our event preview, click the link here.
The popular GT3 Sprint series will be visiting Interlagos for this week’s racing action. With a slight chance of showers during the races, this could create some really fun racing in changing conditions. The circuit is great for close racing, with a long main straight and with an infield section where following is possible. Those who choose this series for the week, surely won’t be disappointed with the action here.
A possible hidden gem for the week in sports car racing could be the Proto-GT Challenge, which is going to be hosting the races at the Nordschleife with the combined layout. This series features cars that are great fun to drive, but are not raced in real life series anymore. The old HPD, GT1 class and GT2 can be all found here. With the challenge of the Nordschleife, this could be a fun series to race for the week.
The racing week for open wheel racers will be dominated by the Formula 1 race that will be held at COTA at the weekend. The F1 World Tour Series, iRacing Grand Prix Series and both Super Formula Lights and Super Formula will be racing at this track. This circuit is often noted as one of the most challenging ones on the iRacing service as the layout is difficult to master and the track limits are also very strict. However, the track is very enjoyable with high downforce cars and once you have mastered the track, it is very rewarding to drive.
For those wanting a different type of open wheel challenge, the INDYCAR Series will be visiting Long Beach. Another track that is hard to master, but once learned, it is a great experience to drive on. With the close proximity of the walls, full focus must be maintained for all 41 laps of the race and every mistake could be crucial for the outcome of the race. This challenge is exactly why managing a good result is an amazing feeling at this track.
This is what’s in store for the upcoming week. We wish everyone good luck for the racing this week and hope to see you on track!
